Those plans were to include a clear fall back position where if we don’t meet our financial goals we can stop with a phase I, Shell the sanctuary, and building the whole church. On January 6th after the Morning Worship Service, Harbour Design Team will present the final footprint for our detail plans. This is NOT the meeting to vote on building. It is an information meeting only.
From Pastor Mark..................
Building Update: First as your pastor, let me thank you for the participation in our Family Time conversation about our new church on November 4th. There were a number of ideas that came out of that meeting which our Building Committee explored. We are thankful for your questions and suggestions.
Since that meeting on November 4th, our Building Committee recommended to Church Council that we "Move ahead and get full plans on our new church building with the fall back positions voted on in our Church Charge Conference of 2006 clearly in place on those plans." That means our desire is to build the complete building based on the strength of our congregation’s commitment for our "Forward in Faith" campaign. The Building Committee as well as Church Council recognized there are a number of financial factors that might cause us to fall back to only doing a portion of the project. (IE. The Bank might not loan us enough to do the full project) This recommendation passed.
Jesus said (Luke 14:28) For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it" We want to be good stewards and we want to glorify God in our building a new facility.
We called the Design Team from Harbour back to review the fall back positions. In doing that we had to define a clear break point if we could not do the full project. We needed our roof line to look good. We had to put what we needed to do ministry in phase I and yet be ready to do phase I & II at the same time. This was not easy but Harbour worked with our Building Committee and now we are ready for them to do the complete project drawings to get bids. We want to share those with you so on January 6th, following the morning service, Harbour will have a powerpoint presentation for those interested.
We are excited and know you will be also. Many of you are anxious for us to "just turn the dirt." But this is a huge project and we must communicate, communicate, communicate in doing God’s will for our future. So as part of that communication, our Building Committee wants you to see these plans with the "fall back positions" clearly defined. Put this date on your calendar and plan to be there.
