On Sunday, December 7th, following service, Church Members, Visitors, and City Officials gathered on our property to perform the "Ground Breaking" for our new church. The day started out gray, but the sun shone brightly by the time we reached the property. 16 shovels were readied; standing tall and waiting. When the signal was given, 15 of those shovels turned the earth that would begin the process of a much anticipated reward for our congregation. One of the shovels stood still. It did so in honor and in memory of John Green a long time member and friend of MWUMC. John, who had looked forward to the ground breaking for some time, went to his heavenly reward on Saturday the 6th. If not there in body, he was there in spirit. God bless and rest in peace. John. We will miss you! After the official ceremony was held, it was time for some fun. All in attendance was given the opportunity to grab a shovel and throw some dirty and throw it they did. All and all the ground breaking went as planned and our Church is no longer a vision, but more of a reality. Next step is to finalize the funding and get the building underway. Watch this space for future updates.
